William Form papers, 1948-2002.

The collection contains the papers of William Form, a prominent academic figure in industrial sociology. The majority of these documents consist of correspondence, variously editorial, autobiographical, general, and otherwise. There are also book reviews written by Form, notes and outlines for his speeches, book reviews and press notices of his own work, and family photographs spanning several generations. The papers are weighted much more toward professional than personal matters, but Form was both widely respected and much loved, and accordingly professional and personal documents intertwine in many respects. As a whole, these papers contribute to an understanding of the growth and evolution of the field of sociology, the rise of now-rejected methodologies in sociology, and the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of sociological research.
